Games are on Thursday night sometime after 5:30PM at World's Best Comics, 9714 Warwick Blvd Newport News, Virginia 23601.
This week we had an extra large Spinach and extra Mozzarella pizza.
++++ START OF SESSION ++++
Debriefing the party from last week, one of them make a skill check versus knowledge of Golems and they recovered a flawed diamond set in a secret compartment in the Stone Golem's skull.
Next, the Party decided to check out what was behind the black velvet curtain.
Their diligence paid off, what they found was a 20 foot by 20 foot area behind which was a set of double doors. Checking for traps and finding none, they passed through them and found a blackened room with a pool filled with a glowing purplish vinegary smelling fluid. On the side walls were four cressets on each wall burning with purple flames that gave off no heat.
This pool was set with Amethyst tiles with a visibility of about four feet. Above it was a crystal dome which reflected the light.
Upon further investigation, and several die rolls excruciatingly extracted from the hands of the roller, the party found a concealed door and finally, a secret door.
But before they could choose which door to go through the party was attacked by the pool. Or more correctly, the pool fluid. Lacking a definite marching order, I placed the party walking around it as if it were inmates of a Turkish prison on their daily exercise circular walk. Picking a victim at random, it attacked one of Huang's Monk followers, Gangnam Bang Mi for 23 hit points, then again for 13. Putting her at negative 8. While death is supposed to occur at zero, it is final at negative ten. The difference is the number of rounds you can either give your final words or possibly get healed by a Cleric. So while dying, the party had two rounds to defeat the monster AND for a Cleric to get her to positive hit points.
With some difficulty, the party accomplished this task.
But to make it a difficult by the skin of their teeth, the crystal dome ceiling was set to shatter the moment the monster died at a rate of 1-to-12 hit points on everyone in the room. I rolled a 12, indicating penetration damage followed by a 1, for a total of 13. (The amethyst tiled pool also shattered letting the dead creature drain.)
So the barely healed Monk was sent to negative hit points again, there being 13 "characters" in the room meant everyone took 169 hits that Elefus had to heal (starting with Bang Mi of course, who went back to negative hit points). He ended up using all his Cure Light Wound spells. In retrospect, the Party should have utilized some of his Heal Nasty and Cure Moderate Wound spells, which he has plenty of. Should minor wounds occur later, they would have to resort to these, wasting major spells on minor problems.
Searching through the shards, the party found a mysteriously dry parchment with prose written on it and stuck in the ceiling where the crystal dome was was empty scroll case. Several of the amethyst tiles were worth saving as gemstones and they pocketed those also.
Following this fiasco the party decided to follow the secret door which led to a short 30 foot hallway and a door.
(For those who can receive attachments, the current set of discovered rooms is attached, otherwise it can be obtained from the websites in the Record Keeping, Part 3 section below.)
