Tracy's HackMoor Campaign 2016/08/04
Games are now on Thursday night sometime after 5:30PM at World's Best Comics, 9714 Warwick Blvd Newport News, Virginia 23601.

We had a large Steak and Mushroom pizza and a half gallon of Chocolate Milk.

As mentioned at the end of last session, the party made it back to Jaded Delights and found the door open, the Jeweler dead, as well as his two guards.  The Key to the City was mounted as contracted.  Since the party was made up mostly of Thieves, they cleaned out the store, including the Jeweler's few magic items, and also unhinged and took the steel front door (that had a lock that had a negative 80 percent probability to pick).

They took all their hoard and key, including the door, back to the Thieves Guild, err "Feed Store" for safekeeping.  They put the Key in a place of honor and Jacko installed the door downstairs to make is own redoubt.  Then they started to count their loot which amounted to a couple thousand worth in gems, some jewelers lenses, and a dagger.   Using Elefus to cast Detect Magic, they found the dagger and one pair of lenses to be magical.  Unfortunately since Elefus was a cleric and could use Detect Magic, the party no longer had a Magic User to "Identify" the exact nature of the magic.

Out of the blue in swooped Weasel.  (See missing or Captured Characters in Part 2 below).

Weasel was a long time party member from long past who hasn't played in a while.  He stepped in to make a cameo appearance (and partake of the free pizza).  Weasel is an unimaginably high level (at least versus the rest of the party) Magic User/Thief/Fighter who could "Identify" the items.  In trade for of the Jeweler's non-magical lenses, he determined the Dagger was a +3 weapon, and the magical lenses were "Eyes of Minute Seeing" which allow 100x magnification.  (The six regular lenses found could magnify 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 24x and 32x).

Jacko took the new dagger and Aerys took the Eyes of Minute Seeing.

Aside from the deal, ostensibly Weasel just stopped by to say Hello to Elefus since they were old friends, and went on his way.

Having taken care of that, the party decided to attack City Hall the lair of the Dopplegangers.

Successfully picking the lock and opening the front door, the party easily overcame the rather sleepy guard at the front desk who was supposed to be minding the hallway.

Since the living quarters were upstairs, the party went up there to pick the ten locks on ten bedrooms and found them all empty save one.  Where they killed a female sleeping in her bed.  (There was one room where they could not open the lock but it turned out to be of no importance.)

They decided to go back to the first floor and down to the basement, past the obvious sign and downward arrow that said "This way to the Dungeon and Political Prisoner holding cells.  Authorized personnel only."  Whereupon (as luck would have it) the Mayor, his Wife, and Deputy Mayor were down below in front of the real Mayor, his Wife, and Deputy Mayor caged in holding cells.

After a brief fight, the party slew the Dopplegangers and freed their real counterparts.  The freed Deputy Mayor thinks this is all a plot to get him so they referred him to the town Psychiatrist for "Counseling".

One question the party asked, who was the female they killed sleeping in the bedroom upstairs?  A quick records check (since they were in City Hall anyway), indicated she was a visiting dignitary from Princess Trixie of the Principality of Saxe Burlap und Schleswig Beerstein.  Oops.  So they called upon Elefus to perform another Raise Dead and apologized to her profusely, saying they thought she was someone else.  (This does not bode well for any future visits to by the party to the aforementioned Principality.)

Of curious mention, Aerys also make a side visit to the Mayor's Office and came back.  Didn't say what he did there.

The party having made sure of the town's Doppleganger menace, discussed next to attack the Brothel and it's Succubi occupant.  I had them make various skill checks at that point, and Aerys (making the appropriate die roll), noticed out of the corner of her eye a slight shimmer of what appeared to be an eyeball hovering in a dark corner of the room spying on them which promptly blinked out.  The eye had long lashes.

To be continued next week.
