Hmmm.... Just doing some thinking.
I wrote a post about having a goto ROG here http://furiouslyeclectic.com/?q=node/30
As I say there, I feel like a combo of Lejendary Adventure and Silhouette would make the perfect RPG....
After some posts by @tmjva, I've been thinking about HackMaster again. The last time I played an HM-Like game, I took Holmes D&D and added some HM bells & whistles for a very deadly and fun game.
I went through the old HMW yahoo group a bit (seeking a specific message for another purpose) and started wondering about some of the unanswered questions at the time.
What would a Hacked Castles & Crusades look like? I was so disappointed in Kenzer & Co.'s hand-waving of OSRIC I was looking for alternatives and apparently constantly working on HM4e. I forgot a lot of the work I did on Hacking other systems as well as adventures. I'm a little saddened that I moved so far away from HM as I was most certainly very passionate about it.
So, after seeing all that I thought about what things made class-based RPGs good.
The combat and magic mechanics from Spellcraft & Swordplay are my favourite. The joke of HM4e made me passionate about class based gaming. Many of their bells & whistles appeal to me. Could I take the HM4e good and the S&S good and plug it all into C&C?
