Yes babies. There was blood at one of the abduction scenes. The baby-less widow is in her mid-twenties but seems ragged just the same. She's kind and not hard on the eyes, but beautiful would be stretching it. The hermit has a shack due East. He isn't really known well to the Mayor other than he exists and keeps to himself. Since the attacks started he hasn't actually been seen but he's the only other known intelligent humanoid nearby. Plus he's an Elf and they know things.
