Hilarious. Because "California Dreamin'" is by The Mamas and the Papas, in case you were unaware. It perfectly fits the song and the whole punk culture that The Dead Milkmen satirized.
Well, turns out the joke's on me. The Beach Boys recorded a cover of "California Dreamin'" in 1986, two years before "Punk Rock Girl" came out.
